It feels good to be back in the eternal city of Rome. The streets are more noisy and crowded than ever, but there are several Christmas markets still around to ease it up. Even though it’s a bit chilly, the sun is out and the scenery is spectacular.

The year is about to get wrapped up. For the occasion, I’m currently in the world’s only remaining grand duchy. The capital, Luxembourg city, is built at a fascinating geographic location.
Much has happened since the Roman fort of Mamucium was established in 79 AD. After becoming the world’s first industrialised city, Manchester went on to become one of the most famous music cities of the world.
Since Sweden has had the coldest December month in 110 years, I thought it would be at least a bit warmer in central Europe. But the streets of Hungary’s capital are absolutely freezing. Fortunately there are lots of places with hot goulash to escape the chill, and not to forget the famous thermal baths all over the city.
The year is about to end and I’m spending the last days of it in Prague, the beautiful gothic capital of Czech Republic. Since it’s also the last day of the decade, we might as well go out with a bang. And what better way than the herbal bitter Becherovka, a classic Czech brew.
New Year’s Eve is one of the most hyped times of the year, but still a great time to meet friends and have fun. There is celebration all over the world but the news often show images from the same old places.
The year is about to get wrapped up, so me and Emelie are on our way to Mrs Macquarie’s Point in the Botanic Gardens. It is the best view in the city, where the Opera House is seen in front of the massive fireworks in the harbor area, celebrating the 75th anniversary of the old “coathanger” Harbour Bridge.
