Best concerts of 2009
This year has seen a lot of concerts around the world, perhaps in some way related to the decrease in record sales which forces the artists to hit the roads. Regardless of the reason I estimate that I saw about 80 gigs during the year, and here are some of the highlights.

Arvikafestivalen has always been a gamble with the weather. You arrive expecting one thing and leave having survived another. One moment the Swedish sun is doing its best impression of the Sahara, baking thousands of pale Scandinavians dressed in black and paler than Marilyn Manson.

I tend to visit a lot of live concerts, since most bands manage to create something special on stage that make them come alive, in a way never achieved by the flat compact discs. Here are some of my favorite concerts during 2008.

For one long weekend every summer, The forests of Värmland become home to Sweden’s strangest temporary city. Thousands of people living on cheap beer, questionable hygiene and an unwavering belief that black clothes are appropriate in the summer.
