For all of you who share my love for both Manhattan and digital maps, I want direct your attention to Jason Kottke’s latest project called Manhattan Elsewhere.
He visually compares the size of Manhattan to several other major US cities. For instance, have a look at San Francisco vs Manhattan.

Even though I’ve walked across both cities, it’s easy to overlook just how big Manhattan really is. The island feels a bit smaller due to its geography.
Here is my own map comparison, comparing Manhattan to my hometown Gothenburg.
