Mink Machine

Top ten records of 2005

Just as last year, it’s time to take a look at the best albums released in 2005. And the winners are…

  1. Depeche Mode – Playing the Angel
  2. Nine Inch Nails – With Teeth
  3. Ladytron – Witching Hours
  4. Kent – Du & Jag Döden
  5. Røyksopp – The Understanding
  6. Mr Jones Machine – New Wave
  7. Thermostatic – Joy-Toy
  8. Rammstein – Rosenrot
  9. Thåström – Skebokvarnsv 209
  10. Morcheeba – The Antidote

However, unlike last year the choices were more difficult this time since we’ve seen the releases of a lot of great records. Not quite making the list are several proper albums such as

  • Alice in Videoland – Outrageous
  • Sigur Ros – Takk
  • Sapporo 72 – Business and Pleasure
  • Feindflug – Volk Und Armee
  • Goldfrapp – Supernature
  • Vive La Fête – Grand Prix
  • VNV Nation – Matter & Form
  • Tom McRae – All Maps Welcome
  • Laleh – Laleh
  • Kent – The Hjärta And Smärta EP
  • Iris – Wrath
  • Erasure – Nightbird
  • Fischerspooner – Odyssey
  • Death Cab For Cutie – Plans
  • Andy Bell – Electric Blue
  • Daft Punk – Human After All
  • Embassy – Tacking
  • Melotron – Cliche
  • A-ha – Analogue
  • Moby – Hotel
  • Snowracer – Snowracer
  • Coldplay – X & Y
  • Combichrist – Everybody Hates You
  • Håkan Hellström – Ett Kolikbarns Bekännelser
  • Suburban Kids With Biblical Names – #3
  • Chemical Brothers – Push The Button
  • Franz Ferdinand – You Could Have It So Much Better
  • Tough Alliance – The New School
  • Cardigans – Super Extra Gravity
  • Psyche – The 11th Hour
  • Colony 5 – Fixed

So many albums, so little space… Next year I ought to do a “top 30”. After the holidays are gone the next big release to look for is Covenant’s new album “Skyshaper”, due March 24, with a sample single entitled “Ritual Noise” being released on January 20.

Witness also the eight album by Morrissey, entitled “Ringleader of the tormentors”, on March 27. Exciting months ahead, so stay tuned.

Jag vet inte om du har noterat det redan, men jag har inte en forhandskopia av Ritual Noise pa min server. Jag skulle rekommendera att du inte laddar ner den. Den ligger inte i 300. New Stuff-foldern.
