Adaptive Path has sold Measure Map, a tool for blog statistics, to Google, even though it is only in beta state. This will be a great addition to Google Analytics. I wonder what they will do with them, perhaps a merge to get a Swiss army knife for stats analysis?
Entries of year 2006
As mentioned earlier, the eagerly awaited release of IE 7 is getting closer. Even though I certainly won’t use it as my main browser, it is very interesting from a developer’s point of view. Now that the preview of beta version 2 is out, let’s have a look.
The server maintenance took a while longer than originally planned since I ran into every single error known to man. I was actually quite amazed that so many components could cause so much trouble at the same time. The only thing that worked flawlessly was the power chord… Finally all cable gremlins and software spirits seems to be in place again. Sorry for the downtime.
I came across a very fishy bug which seemed to occur only for Turkish locales. It turned out that case sensitivity was the culprit and both Rick Strahl and Scott Hanselman had written about the issue a few months ago. The Turkish alphabet seems to have different meanings for upper and lower case versions of the letter “I”.
Time for the Razzie Awards 2006! I remember last year when Halle Berry actually showed up to accept her award for Worst Actress in Catwoman. The starting field is not as great (or bad) as last year, but there are a few gems such as Jessica Alba (nominated Worst Actress for both her invisible role in Fantastic Four and her role in Into the Blue), Burt Reynolds (also nominated twice!), Paris Hilton and of course the uncanny Uwe Boll as Worst Director.
With a lot of visitors per day to this site, excluding an average of 90 written spam entries the same day, it takes some toll on my web garden. Due to several reasons I’ve decided to momentarily increase the level of protection on this site.
After the great movie year of 2005, what do we see at the horizon?
SAMA 2006 (Scandinavian Alternative Music Awards) just got a boost as Das Ich, VNV Nation, Iris, Spetsnaz and Seize has joined the lineup of De/Vision, Strasse and Sturm Café.
I have read a lot of blog entries concerning web development and more during the last year, most likely over several dozen each day. It sums up to quite a lot of hours invested, and since I unfortunately don’t have unlimited time on my hands, rather the other way around, I have to choose carefully.
