I’m writing this at a window some hundred meters above the streets of Warsaw, the capital of Poland. Staying at the five-star hotel InterContinental Warsaw which offers a good view of the city. Even though it’s only the 55th tallest building in Europe, it’s the tallest hotel in Poland and the third tallest in Europe.
Roaming through Banff
"Even though the main town is surrounded by mountains with names such as Sulphur Mountain, it is as far away from Mordor as one could imagine."
The sound of Salzburg
"It is based on the true story of Maria von Trapp, even though I suspect she didn’t go singing alone in the mountain ranges."
Alone in Kyoto
"I tried my best to sneak across the building, but the floor revealed me each time. I suppose I would make a lousy ninja."
The streets of Paris
"One of the advantages of repeated visits to a place is the leisure pace of awe and discovery while drifting slowly down the worn streets of the French capital."
Eating my way through Basque country
"Not too bad to wash it all down with a local Txakoli, the young white wine typical of the Basque country."
Memories of Skye
"The countryside is charming and some places even have coffee."
