I recently wrote a post about free subway maps. As we all know, good subway maps are a visual guide to the system and not by any means an accurate map of the real city. What seems close on a tube map could very likely be a large distance in the real world.
Aliens in Nevada and New Mexico
"We turned around and went down another dirt road, past countless Joshua trees until our car was covered in dirt and we finally arrived at the Front Gate of Area 51."
"But unlike the movie Chernobyl Diaries, we didn’t find anybody there. Nature had reclaimed the area and the silence was deafening."
Memories of Skye
"The countryside is charming and some places even have coffee."
The fairytale castles of Sintra
"The Portuguese town of Sintra is famous for many beautiful castles. Palácio Nacional da Pena is arguably the most stunning of the lot. "
Visions of Singapore
"By extensive use of landfill with sand bought from Indonesia and Cambodia, the bay area has expanded greatly in the last few years and tall buildings pop up everywhere."
The sound of Salzburg
"It is based on the true story of Maria von Trapp, even though I suspect she didn’t go singing alone in the mountain ranges."
