This site has now been online for ten years! Time flies. In 1994, when I took my first humble steps in the art of HTML, the tools were simple in my Solaris environment: Writing HTML in Emacs, hit “c-x c-s” and viewing the result in the Mosaic browser.
Eating my way through Basque country
"Not too bad to wash it all down with a local Txakoli, the young white wine typical of the Basque country."
"But unlike the movie Chernobyl Diaries, we didn’t find anybody there. Nature had reclaimed the area and the silence was deafening."
Having champagne in Champagne
"We roamed the damp and chilly tunnels and stumbled upon a large barrel delivered by Napoleon himself."
Roaming in Valletta
"I passed the statue of Jean de Valette, the 49th Grand Master who laid the foundation stone to Valletta in 1566, to gaze at the golden interior of St. John’s Co-Cathedral, where he is buried in the crypt."
The sound of Salzburg
"It is based on the true story of Maria von Trapp, even though I suspect she didn’t go singing alone in the mountain ranges."
A journey through Iran
"I woke up freezing on a Persian rug with aching back. Behind a corner I saw the damned rooster that kept me awake during many hours."
